Building Design In 2008, Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates started designing architecture design and Thornton Tomasetti by providing structural design. Its foundation stone was laid on August 29, 2009 and construction began in November of that year. China Construction First Building Group was appointed as a general contractor to build the building. On March 15, 2013, the construction process was temporarily closed, due to suspected use of concrete made of unsaturated ocean sand, which could destroy the steel structure. After the sample test the construction on the building resumed.
